Hello there, my name is Ricol! Some call me Senpai, Ricky, Ricci, Ricobi, Ricoletto, Rico - the latter I despise -. I’m in my 20s, I’m from Portugal and I’m currently looking for a job in my area which is Computer Engineering.

First of all, I hope you enjoy my blog, it’s something I’m proud of doing and it is a great improvement over what I had made in Microsoft Frontpage 2000 a long while ago, and then my WordPress blog. While the WordPress blog was a good step-up from the Frontpage site, I had always wanted to have the site in my complete possession, and doing it from scratch. Well, here it is.

The goal was essentially to construct a site following the designs of the mid to late 90’s, early 2000’s, while keeping the modern web comodities. Initially, I had created a very basic mockup in 2022 of how it would look like, and at that time I had no plans for it to be optimized for phones and tablets. Since then, I had a change of heart, and I made sure it looks polished enough on every screen size.

With the Wordpress site “gone”, I decided to change the, let’s put it loosely, branding to something a little more generalized. TICS do ricol became Ricol’s Blog, simply due to the fact that this blog will focus on other stuff besides IT related posts. I always wanted a space where I could just formulate my own ideas about other topics I’m as deeply passionate about. So, with all of this, I’m basically saying that this blog is about me rather than IT now.

Continuing with my introduction, I love a plethora of things, including gaming, anime, PCs and tech in general, history, geography, music, languages, among other stuff. I also like playing guitar and reading books, although there’s only so much you can do with time, so those are left in the dust for the most part. Regarding the languages, I know, besides my mother tongue, English, German, French and Japanese, to a good degree - the latter is still… underdeveloped.

Besides this blog, I own three lovely Discord servers, namely Favorite Hub and Makura Hub - these are about Visual Novels discussions about the respective developer companies - and Ricol’s Chimaera Café, a community where all my friends are and where we hangout and voice chat. The first two are public, you can access them from the links on the sidebar, the last one is private, for obvious reasons. I partake in very few Discord servers owned by other people, most notably the Clannad, Girls Und Panzer and Open RT Discord servers.
